Evidence over opinion.

Guidance for founders and organizations building ventures and partnerships, from the first customer conversation to the partners that help a business scale.

What I do

Three ways to work together, all built on the same idea: decisions you can defend with evidence.

Venture reviews

Send me your documents. You’ll get stage-calibrated feedback grounded in named frameworks: what’s genuinely strong, what’s still unproven, and a clear call on whether to move forward, keep testing, change course, or stop.

Partnership strategy

The right partner at the right time. Evidence-based approaches to B2B partnerships and channels, drawn from my forthcoming book, The Channel Equation.

“Dr. Tim Schneller has been a wonderful facilitator and mentor to the MEST Africa AI Startup Program. What stood out to me was the level of thought he put into how people would actually learn. His sessions were extremely well prepared, but never felt like lectures. Months later, his sessions continue to be cited by participants. They left with frameworks, skills, and ways of thinking that they are continuing to use.”

Dr. Tim Schneller has been a wonderful facilitator and mentor to the MEST Africa AI Startup Program, and I would highly recommend him to any organization looking for someone who brings both depth and practicality to entrepreneurship education.

Dr. Tim joined us in March to lead our Business Studio with a cohort of 30 entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds across West Africa. He worked with them on customer segmentation, business model development, market sizing, customer discovery, testing assumptions, and using insights from the market to iterate their ventures. He also facilitated additional workshops with Christine Schneller focused on influencing, credibility, customer conversations, and negotiation.

What stood out to me was the level of thought Dr. Tim put into how people would actually learn. His sessions were extremely well prepared, but never felt like lectures. He used scenarios, exercises, discussion, and practice to help participants work through concepts for themselves and connect them directly to the businesses they were building. He was intentional about creating an environment where people with different experiences, perspectives, and levels of confidence could participate meaningfully. That attention extended even to rearranging the seating in our training space to make it more conducive to discussion, interaction, and learning. He paid attention to the room, responded thoughtfully to questions, and adjusted based on what participants were grappling with.

Our participant feedback reflected the quality of that experience. Dr. Tim received 100% positive ratings across all five areas we measure: knowledge and clarity, engagement and support, responsiveness to questions, pace and structure, and overall effectiveness. Participants repeatedly named his Business Studio sessions among the highlights of the month. They particularly valued the practical nature of the sessions, including the use of scenarios and interactive exercises to work through concepts such as market sizing, ROI, segment snapshots, unit economics, testing, and measurement.

For me, one of the strongest indicators of Dr. Tim’s impact has been what has happened since. Our entrepreneurs have now moved into incubation, where they are actively building, testing, selling, and making decisions about their ventures. Months later, Dr. Tim’s sessions continue to be cited by participants as they work through those challenges. That staying power matters to me. It tells me that participants did not simply enjoy the sessions. They left with frameworks, skills, and ways of thinking that they are continuing to use.

Dr. Tim has also continued his involvement with the program by mentoring one of our venture teams during incubation. I have been equally impressed by the commitment he has brought to that relationship. He is engaged and generous with his time and thinking, while also challenging the team in the right ways. He does not simply give them answers. He pushes them to question their assumptions, sharpen their thinking, and make stronger decisions for themselves. That balance of support and challenge is exactly what early-stage entrepreneurs need from a mentor.

As Director of the MEST Africa AI Startup Program, I work with many experts, facilitators, and mentors across the different stages of our entrepreneurs’ development. Dr. Tim is someone I would gladly work with again. He brings strong business knowledge, careful preparation, an understanding of how people learn, and a genuine commitment to the entrepreneurs he works with. I highly recommend him.

“Dr Tim Schneller has been part of the Pan African AI & Innovation Summit for two years running: as a keynote speaker, panelist, and moderator, and now as a member of the advisory board. His 2026 keynote, ‘The Right Partner at the Right Time,’ gave founders a practical way to think about partnerships at each stage of growth. What stands out most is how generously he engages with young innovators, policy-makers and business leaders before and after he speaks.”

How I think about ventures

Every venture moves through five stages. Most trouble comes from moving on before the evidence says you’re ready.

  1. 1

    Learn

Is the problem real, and will anyone act on a first solution?

  2. 2

    Prove

Will one committed customer pay, and come back, more than once?

  3. 3

    Grow

Does acquisition hold its economics as you spend more?

  4. 4

    Scale

Can the company deliver more without margins or quality breaking?

  5. 5

    Reinvent

Is the next curve getting the same discipline as the first?

Reinvent loops back: the next curve starts at Learn, with its own evidence.

At every stage, the same partnership question

What do you need now, who controls it, and what can you offer in return?

Dr. Tim Schneller

Dr. Tim Schneller

I spent almost 30 years in industrial automation, in roles across GE and as Head of Global Channel Marketing at Honeywell, inside highly regulated businesses where decisions had to stand up to auditors and regulators and still deliver results. Now I teach Innovation & Entrepreneurship Mindset and Technical Selling at MSOE’s Rader School of Business, mentor founders through MEST Africa in Accra, and write about what makes partnerships work.

What founders say

“Working with Dr. Tim has been one of the most valuable experiences in my journey as a first-time founder building an AI-powered healthcare startup. His thoughtful, evidence-based approach challenged me to look beyond my assumptions and think more critically about our customer segments, positioning, business model, and the evidence supporting our decisions. I especially appreciate how he challenges you to dig deeper while giving you the tools and structure to find your own answers.”

“When I started working with Dr. Tim, De-Verdant Travel was an idea with no website and a business I couldn’t explain clearly. We worked through the website, the brand, go-to-market strategy, and how I describe our trips, and he pushed me to back each decision with evidence. Since then, we’ve gained recognition as a travel and tour company, have had bookings through our website, and can pitch the business clearly to partners.”

“As founders, we focused heavily on the problem we were solving rather than on the actual buyer or payer of our solution. It was only after our meeting with Dr. Tim that we did the deeper research to identify our buyer personas, score them on budget, speed, access, fit and willingness to pay, and build our sales cycle around that. On the call, Dr. Tim also helped us see that our existing relationships are our best access.”

“Working with you changed how I approach my research. Your feedback on my drafts, especially when you pushed on the framing, assumptions and whether the validation actually supported the claims I was making, made me much more critical of my own work. I now think about the weaknesses of an idea much earlier, make the claims more carefully, and design my tests around what would actually convince me that the idea works rather than just looking for results that support it.”
